The light, the dark, the bit in between. The blur, the static and all the unseen

Both paintings are acrylic on canvas; they are both very different styles but part of a similar idea. Within these self-portriats, I am exploring the idea of what one can see about a person. The top image shows the contrast between light and dark, and how the clear distiction of light enables the viewer to see the eye and side of the face whereas the rest of the face/body is distorted with darkness.

The following painting is signifying the idea of distortion through a blurring technique.

The point of them both is that the information is not readily accessible for the viewer, mirroring the concept of not quite knowing a person properly.
