Blurred Portrait

This is a close up self-portrait I took with the intention to create distortion. As the composition is close to my face I wanted to make sure that you could see the shadows and shapes but couldn’t see the details or colours.

When I took this photograph my eyes were open slightly so you could see them but in the editing/printing process they appear to be all black and closed.. this wasn’t what I intended because I wanted to be able to see the eye slightly but not completely. However, I think it is an interesting aspect that the distortion process has changed my eye from being open to closed – this is almost the metaphor for how perceptions change what is actually there
